About this kit

You've made the pot. Now fill it.

The Candle Add-On Pack turns any Sawa pottery piece into a scented soy candle. Everything you need to seal, pour and finish — designed to work with the kit you already have.

What's inside

  • 200g natural soy wax in a microwave-ready pouch
  • Fragrance oil, 16ml — choose your scent
  • Fire-safe vessel sealer, 50ml, with brush
  • Cotton wick, centering tool and mixing stick (plus spares)
  • Illustrated instruction card
  • Candle safety label for the finished piece

How it works

Seal your dried pot inside and out. Melt the wax in the microwave — four minutes, no thermometer, no double boiler. Stir in the fragrance, set the wick, pour. Leave it overnight.

Around 20 hours of burn time from a candle you made from clay.

Good to know

You'll need a finished, bone-dry pottery piece to pour into — this pack doesn't include clay. Set aside about a day from sealing to first burn, and read the card before you start.

What's in the box?

Everything you need for a full pottery session: premium air-dry clay, a full set of pottery tools, paints, brushes, varnish and a step-by-step guide. Nothing extra to buy.

Do I need a kiln or an oven?

No. Sawa kits use premium air-dry clay that dries on its own in 24 to 48 hours. No kiln, no oven, no studio.

I've never done pottery. Will I manage?

Yes. The kit is designed for first-time potters. The step-by-step guide walks you through shaping, drying and painting, one stage at a time.

Which kit should I pick?

Pick by how many of you are making. The Solo Kit is for one, the Duo Kit is for two (best value), and the Group Kit covers 3 to 4 makers for friends and family sessions.

Is it suitable for kids?

Yes. Kids aged 8 and up can follow the guide mostly on their own. Younger children may need a little adult help with shaping and painting.

How long does the clay take to dry?

The clay dries by itself when left alone for 24-48 hours. The drying time will vary depending on how thick the piece is. The thicker your piece is, the longer it will take to dry.

Do not put your piece in the oven or apply heat to try to speed this process up as this will likely lead to cracks in your masterpiece.

What should I use as a work surface?

We recommend working on a non-porous surface that the clay will not get stuck to, that way you can wipe it down easily when you're finished.

How do I paint and varnish my pottery creations?

Once clay is entirely dry (ensure it is not damp to the touch) apply paint as desired. Allow time for paint to dry before applying varnish as the final step.

Can my piece hold water or food?

Finished pieces are decorative. Air-dry clay is not food safe and should not hold water, even when varnished. Think planters with a liner, trinket dishes, vases for dried stems and ornaments.

Can I get more clay?

Yes. We sell 250g refills of the same white air-dry clay in our add-ons, so you can keep making once the kit clay runs out.
