Where Sawa Began

Sawa (Together) began with the two of us, Tariq and Julia and a shared love for meaningful time together.

We wanted to create something beyond the usual gifts: something creative, hands-on, and genuinely connecting.

For us, Sawa is about slowing down, being present, and making moments that bring people closer, with your partner, your family, your friends, or even just yourself.

What started as our idea has grown into a brand built around togetherness, creativity, and connection.

What pottery pieces can I make?

You can make both functional and decorative pieces - almost anything you can imagine! What you make is really up to you. It's your own creative expression through clay. All our kits come with detailed guides for you to create beautiful pieces.

What should I use as a work surface?

We recommend working on a non-porous surface that the clay will not get stuck to, that way you can wipe it down easily when you're finished.

How do I paint and varnish my pottery creations?

Once the clay is bone dry, first apply your white paint. Once that is dry you can add any colored paint decorations, followed by the varnish which is the final step.

How long does the clay take to dry?

The clay dries by itself when left alone for 24-48 hours. The drying time will vary depending on how thick the piece is. The thicker your piece is, the longer it will take to dry.

Do not put your piece in the oven or apply heat to try to speed this process up as this will likely lead to cracks in your masterpiece.

Do I need a kiln?

You don’t need an expensive kiln to get started with pottery from home. We use air-dry clay, which enables you to sculpt and dry your masterpiece at home. We started Sawa to help you experience the joy of pottery without having to visit a studio with a kiln.

How much do you charge for shipping?

We currently ship within the UAE using the following rates:

Standard Delivery: AED 20
Express Delivery: AED 35

Shipping costs are shown at checkout before you place your order.

Has my order been shipped?

You will receive an email with tracking information once your order has been dispatched.

If you haven't received this after 1-2 working days after you place your order, please get in touch and we will be able to give you an update on your order status.

How long will it take to arrive? - UAE

The estimated shipping times depend on the service you selected at checkout and the emirates you live in.

While we do our best to ensure your order arrives on time, some delays may be beyond our control. These may include:

Severe weather conditions
Shipping carrier delays
Customs processing (for international orders)
Natural disasters
Holidays or peak seasonal volumes
Public health disruptions (e.g., COVID-19)
Acts of war or terrorism
Incorrect or incomplete shipping addresses

My parcel says it’s been delivered but I haven’t got it?

If the tracking details state your order has been delivered but you can’t find it, please consider the following:

Has the package been left in a safe place?
Has it been delivered to one of your neighbors?
Has the correct shipping address been provided?
Has the courier left a calling card?

How do I return my order?

If you would like to return your order, please contact us and we will talk you through the returns process.

Please do not send your kit back to our registered address, we will not receive your return and will be unable to process your refund.

Once we have received the parcel, we'll process the return and issue a refund within 14 days.

How much does it cost to return my order?

If your order is eligible for return, please note that you will be responsible for return shipping costs. Return costs within the US depend on the number of items you’re returning and will typically range from 25 AED, depending on the size of your order. Larger order returns will cost more.

Please contact our customer support team with the items you’re returning for further instructions on how to purchase a return label and we will provide you with the costs and instructions for the returns process.

I’ve already returned my order, how do I get my refund?

Once you have shipped your items for return, please allow some time for the carrier to deliver the items back to us. Once delivered, please allow 14 business days for our warehouse to process and inspect your return. This may take longer during peak times such as during the holidays.

Eligible returned items will be refunded once inspection is completed.

Returned items that are used, opened, damaged, or have missing items will not be refunded.
