You want to know how to make a clay dolphin figurine at home. You have seen the smooth curve online. You think it looks too hard. It is not.

A dolphin is one of the friendliest shapes in clay. It is mostly one long, gentle curve. No wheel needed. No kiln needed. Just your hands and a little patience.

Start with the Sawa Pottery Kit, from AED 198. Free delivery across the UAE.

Why a dolphin is a great first project in the UAE

Life here is close to the sea. Many of us live minutes from the water. A dolphin on a shelf feels natural in a UAE home.

But most people think pottery means a studio. A wheel. A hot kiln. That means a booking, a drive and a bill. Many people give up before they start.

The heat makes it harder. Summer afternoons keep us indoors. A calm indoor craft fits that life well. A dolphin takes one relaxed session. You can finish it between a coffee and a call.

The Sawa answer: no wheel, no kiln

Sawa makes this simple. Our kit uses air-dry clay. It hardens on its own at room temperature. You never need an oven or a kiln.

Everything arrives in one box. Clay, tools, paints and a clear guide. Delivery is free across the UAE.

How to shape your clay dolphin, step by step

1. Roll the body

Take a ball of clay. Roll it into a thick log. Taper one end for the tail. Keep the other end rounded for the head.

2. Curve it

Bend the log into a soft arc. Think of a dolphin leaping. Press the base flat so it can stand on a shelf.

3. Add the snout

Pinch a small beak at the front. Smooth it with a little water on your finger. Keep the line clean.

4. Add fins and tail

Cut two small triangles for the side fin and the top fin. Score the surface. Add a drop of water. Press them on firmly. Flatten the tail into two soft wings.

5. Smooth and dry

Rub out every crack with a damp finger. Let it dry for 24 hours. Turn it once so it dries evenly.

6. Paint and seal

Use soft blues, creams and a touch of terracotta. Add a small dot for the eye. Seal it when the paint is dry.

What you can do with your finished dolphin

Your dolphin is decor only. It is a piece for your home. Place it on a shelf. Set it beside a candle. Rest it near your bukhoor burner. Keep it next to your keys on the entry table.

It also makes a lovely gift. A handmade piece means more than a bought one.
