Step by step: your clay dog
1. Roll the body
Shape a thick sausage of clay. Bend the ends slightly down. Flatten the underside so it sits flat.
2. Make four legs
Roll four short stumps. Score the body and the tops of the legs. Add a little water. Press each leg on and blend the seams.
3. Add the head
Roll a ball for the head. Add a small oval for the snout. Press them together and smooth the join. Attach the head to the body.
4. Shape the ears
Flatten two soft teardrops. Let them hang down for a floppy look. Or pinch them up for a alert pup.
5. Add the tail and face
Roll a short tail and attach it. Press in two eyes. Add a small round nose.
6. Dry, paint and seal
Dry for about 24 hours. Paint warm caramel with cream patches. Add a teal collar. Seal when the paint is dry.
Where to display your dog
Your dog is decor only. Place it by the front door near your keys. Set it on a shelf next to a candle. Rest it beside prayer beads on a console table.
