The weekend arrives and the plan is the same as last week. Mall. Brunch. Maybe a coffee. It is fine, but it costs a lot and you forget it by Monday.
Weekend activities at home in Dubai can be far better than the usual outing. Cheaper too. You just need one activity that turns a normal Saturday into something you actually remember. Not another screen. Something you do together.
Why the usual weekend gets stale in Dubai
For months the heat makes outdoor plans tough. So the weekend defaults to indoor spending. Malls and cafes are easy but repetitive. By the time the bill arrives you have not really done anything, just moved from one seat to another.
A great weekend at home flips that. Low cost, no traffic, and everyone actually involved in something.
The answer: make something together at home
The best home weekends have a shared project at the centre. Something with your hands, a few laughs, and a result to keep. Pottery is perfect for it. Easy for everyone, no skill needed, and every person walks away with a piece they made.
Sawa is a home pottery kit built for this. No wheel. No kiln. No booking. You spread the clay on the table, put on some music, and everyone shapes their own decor piece. It dries over the weekend and you paint it before it is done.

How a Saturday at home plays out
You get air dry clay, tools, paints, and brushes. Everyone makes their own small decor piece. A trinket dish for keys. A bukhoor holder. A candle stand. A little bowl for prayer beads. No one is watching a screen. Everyone is talking and making.
Pieces dry over the weekend. On Sunday you paint them together. By the end everyone has something to take home. It beats a receipt from brunch. For more ideas when the weather keeps you in, see things to do at home in the UAE, or make it a two-person plan with our date night at home ideas.
Common questions, answered
How many people can join?
As many as you like. The Duo Kit at AED 228 suits two. The Group Kit at AED 288 covers up to four. For a bigger group, add a second kit.
Does anyone need to be good at art?
No. Everyone shapes with their hands and there is no standard to hit. That is what makes it fun in a group. The messy pieces get the biggest laughs.
Is it a hassle to set up and clean?
No. You work on a table and wipe it down with a damp cloth after. Everything came in one box and goes back in one box.
Can we do it with kids around?
Yes. It is family friendly and simple enough for children to join with a little help. Everyone makes at their own level.
